About me

I’m an ordinary woman,in an ordinary city living an ordinary life.

I am 64 so en route to becoming a super annuitant.

I have one husband ,four children, two step children, five step grand children, (I guess that’s a thing) and two resident cats.

I originally trained as a primary school teacher, taught briefly then studied to become an accountant.I haven’t worked in full time paid employment for around 30 years.Part time I’ve been an office assistant, resettlement consultant, budget advisor and auditor/accountant.

I manage the books for my husband’s business and help schedule his working life.

Last year I was diagnosed with arthritis in two hips ,two knees in addition to the arthritis I already had in both feet.

I am waiting for a semi urgent/ routine hip replacement and surgery for my ankle because I tore one ligament and partially tore another when walking the puppy who has now been rehomed. Everybody is good at something!

ACC has agreed to fund home help for a year while they make up their minds whether my ankle injury was an accident or a pre existing condition.I also now have a mobility parking card for my car

I feel a mixture of gratitude and frustration at the time the Health system is taking to schedule my operations.Gratitude that they are going to do some and frustration at the time it’s taking.

I love to read ,loved to walk, love music and people.I also live to travel but that is becoming problematic.I love dogs and cats and being in the garden. My long suffering husband says I have the ideas in the garden and he makes them happen.

That’s enough for now the codeine has kicked in and I will try to sleep for the rest of the night.

Oh for a night of uninterrupted sleep.Still blocks of 2-3 hours are better than none.

Til next time I remain hobbling but hopeful.
